We’re happy to announce that KNOCKOUT has made its first cash donation to the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving educational opportunities for those in war-torn Southern Sudan. Currently, the project is at work on a school and other facilities for the local residents, and KNOCKOUT is proud to assist this effort with a donation of nearly $700.  In case you don’t know, we’re donating half of the money we receive from our first issue to the Foundation.  This is only our first donation, and the amount of our future donations depends on how many more copies of #1 we sell.

In case you don’t know about KO, our first issue contains fine work by many wonderful established and up-and-coming writers, including Marvin Bell, Robert Bly, Todd Boss, Billy Collins, Thomas Lux, Mabel Yu, Denver Butson, Larissa Szporluk, and many, many others. In addition we have a limited number of signed issues of #1. Marvin Bell was kind enough to sign a number of issues for us, as was Robert Bly.

So please buy an issue; it’ll help Sudan and it’ll help make our next issue possible.  Check us out at
